Prescription Drug Abuse Task Force

“A forum that empowers dedicated community members to take action about non-medical use/abuse of prescription medication.”

The Prescription Drug Abuse Task Force began in 2002, driven by data indicating a serious community concern. Dedicated community members of this task force include individuals from our community, such as parents and youth, as well as those from the fields of medicine, research, prevention, pharmaceutical drug companies, pharmacies, coalitions, public health, law enforcement, judiciary, legislative, and education.

Goals:

  • To continue taking the lead in addressing this significant and growing health problem of non-medical use/abuse of prescription
  • To advocate for a state-wide Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.
  • To coordinate innovative community and social marketing campaigns that strive to reduce misuse/abuse and availability of the illegal use prescription medications.

Beginning in 2009, a group of dedicated parents and professionals came together to create this
publication.
After much hard work, we present to our community, and the State of Florida,
this toolkit to help families overcome prescription drug misuse, abuse, and addiction.
