Center for the Study and Prevention of Substance Abuse
The Center for the Study and Prevention of Substance Abuse works to enhance the transfer of research and technology to the community's prevention process. The Center is a collaborative endeavor with the United Way of Broward County Commission on Substance Abuse, The Miami Coalition for a Safe & Drug Free Community, the Florida Department of Children and Families, Nova Southeastern University, and UpFront Drug Information Center.
Incorporating community epidemiology and research findings, the center
provides educational programs and trainings, promotes the community
process of prevention and disseminates information for community
action. The Center promotes the development of comprehensive,
culturally appropriate prevention policies and strategies that are
rooted in scientifically based principles. The Center serves as the key
information component for community drug-free coalitions in Broward and
Southeast Florida.
