Adult Trainings
"To develop, plan and coordinate a comprehensive forum that will provide training and resources for adults as it relates to substance use/abuse"
The adult training initiative is set-up to provide quality training and skill development for adults. The trainings that are offered provide skill set in substance abuse awareness, youth development training, drug prevention, peer to peer education, and other resources that are helpful for adults working in the non-profit sector, youth services and/or prevention services.
Goals
- To collaborate with other organizations to educate and train adults in the area of leadership, advocacy, & substance abuse/use.
- To provide adults with quality training and comprehensive learning techniques as it relates to substance abuse/use.
Trainings Provided
- The Recovery & Resiliency Across the Lifespan and Across Cultures Conference has been successfully planned and implemented for the past 3 years. The goal of the conference is to increase and promote an understanding of positive recovery across the developmental lifespan; facilitate dialogue between consumers and professionals specializing in working with specific cultures and/or parts of the lifecycle, and reduce stigma and barriers to recovery.
- Asset Building Training was held for over 30 participants with a purpose to understand key components of the asset framework; identify multiple strategies for sharing the asset message in their community; explore how to communicate the asset message in ways that will address the varied concerns of different community sectors and develop a plan for effectively communicating the asset message to selected sectors of their community.
- Cultural Competency Training & Development provided once a year to inform and educate about the different cultural practices and worldviews, and to assist professionals in developing their cross-cultural knowledge & skills.
