Since 1998, Gonzalo has worked in with fields of HIV/AIDS and Substance Abuse Prevention. Gonzalo has garnered over 15 years of experience in public health, program evaluation, program administration, and contract management.
His previous employers include Care Resource and DFYIT (Drug Free Youth in Town) respectively. He has successfully lead DFYIT through two successful CARF accreditation processes.
He has received recognitions by the Center for Research on US Latino HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse and the US State Department. Gonzalo is also a recipient of the 2008, “Leadership in Prevention” award joining a selected 250 others since the creation of the award by the Florida Office of Drug Control.
Gonzalo currently provides oversight and support through the Commission to each of the Byrne/JAG funded programs. This initiative also provides technical assistance, training, evaluation and quality improvement to insure programs successfully deliver cost-effective services.
Gonzalo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Bolivia Catholic University. He earned a Post-Graduate Diploma in Quality Improvement from El Instituto Superior Politécnico José Antonio Echeverría. Additionally, he earned a Certificate in Human Resource Management from the University of Miami.
