The United Way of Broward County Commission on Substance Abuse (UWBCCSA) is a broad based substance use/abuse coalition dedicated to reducing substance use/abuse and all its devastating consequences on individuals, families, and communities.
Between 2000 and 2016 there has been a 60% reduction in the rate of Broward high school students reporting recent alcohol binge drinking but a 60% increase in their rate of current marijuana use.
Between 2004 and 2016 there has been a 71% reduction in the rate of Broward high school students reporting current cigarette smoking.
Current use of electronic cigarette devices are reported by 12% of Broward high school students as compared to only 2.9% who report current cigarette smoking.
The potent opiate drug Carfentanil is linked to at least 53 deaths in Broward County in 2016, more than any other county in the nation.
Two days of breakout sessions and speakers where participants can learn, inform, network and discuss issues related to research, policy and practice; expand professional knowledge; provide quality continuing education to behavioral health professionals; and promote community awareness of behavioral health and substance abuse prevention.

The BBHC is a non-profit organization that provides effective and efficient care for substance abuse, mental health, and co-occuring disorders for individuals living in Broward County.
The Florida Department of Children & Families provides several programs like ACCESS Florida, Adults Services, and Child Care to ensure Florida families are receiving the right care.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration promotes and implements prevention and early intervention strategies to reduce the impact of mental and substance use disorders in America’s communities.
